Nicolas Babin disruptive week about Digital Transformation – September 20th 2021

I am regularly asked to summarize my many posts. I thought it would be a good idea to publish on this blog, every Monday, some of the most relevant articles that I have already shared with you on my social networks.
Today I will share some of the most relevant articles about Digital Transformation and in what form you can find it in today’s life. I will also comment on the articles.

Box Relay Is Box’s Secret Weapon In Enterprise Digital Transformation. One of the beautiful aspects of digital transformation is that it is changing every line of business (LOB), not just the IT department. All things business are thrown onto the digitally-transformed fridge, and we see that very few things don’t stick. At the same time, the rapid acceleration of the digitally transformed enterprise, especially the push we have seen from COVID, can cause us to miss out and not see the disruptive changes that can or will make our lives easier. Read to see what Box can bring to the table and how any digital transformation project could benefit from them.

FDA creates new office to drive forward digital transformation strategy. FDA has reorganized its IT, data management and cybersecurity groups into a new office that will report directly to the commissioner. The creation of the Office of Digital Transformation (ODT) is part of a push at FDA to bring its use of technology and data in line with modern practices and to cut duplicative processes. FDA is seeking an extra $75.9 million in the 2022 budget to support the modernization plan, which is intended to move the agency away from “antiquated methods” such as manually looking for safety signals in large volumes of PDFs.

Identity is ‘critical’ for digital transformation, Arizona strategy chief says. No state government’s digital transformation agenda can succeed without a strong identity management program — not just because of the security benefits it brings — but because it makes the enterprise less chaotic, Doug Lange, the chief strategy officer at the Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology office, said Thursday. This is very true even though if identity is not the only management program that has to be implemented. However, I do agree with the author that it cannot be forgotten.

Ready for the ‘Great Reset’? How digital transformation can future-proof food manufacturing. Few foods offer the transportive effects of extra virgin olive oil. Wherever you are, just a mere splash on a bit of bread can instantly carry you to the Mediterranean’s sunny climes, to ancient olive groves and abundant tables, surrounded by friends and flowing conversation. But millions of people around the world would not be able to enjoy this experience if an entire chain of manufacturing processes didn’t work together flawlessly and in seamless harmony.

On Plantservices.com: https://www.plantservices.com/industrynews/2021/using-digital-transformation-to-create-an-agile-and-lean-supply-chain/

Using digital transformation to create an agile and lean supply chain. When supplies are abundant and external variables are “predictable” the notion is to act on cutting down on expenses. However, organizations that have undergone a digital transformation know that a combined agile and lean supply chain is possible. Digital transformation is necessary to regain a hold on inventory management, yet it requires C-level buy-in. At the height of the pandemic, there was a rush to stop the bleeding by testing and implementing new technologies, but as companies have now settled in for the long haul, they have quickly reverted to slow and lengthy decisions and implementations. As more time passes, there is less incentive for leadership to approve new technologies. That stall to move forward will leave companies more vulnerable when another “black swan event” arrives and upends the way businesses operate.

On Techtarget.com: https://internetofthingsagenda.techtarget.com/post/Digital-transformation-helps-organizations-fight-crime

Digital transformation helps organizations fight crime. Organizations can implement IoT technology — including video surveillance cameras, electronic locks and seismic detectors — to protect their machines from physical attacks. While the global pandemic has changed the social, business and economic landscape, it has also provided the prime opportunity for bad actors to take advantage of the new remote work landscape. Some organizations may be closed or have limited staffing. As businesses look to embrace digital transformation in the wake of COVID-19, they are also scrutinizing these strategies and asking stakeholders to rethink how technology can help them navigate and adapt to the new risk landscape. So vert true in all aspect of life today.
